Boiler Move or Location Change

Boiler Bolt-On · Optional work

Move your boiler to a better position

A new kitchen, more usable cupboard space or a change in the way you use a room can make the current boiler position awkward. We can assess a suitable new location and show you what needs to change to get it there safely.

From the old position to the proposed one

This example moves the installation from a kitchen wall to a suitable utility-room wall. Your home may need a different route—or the proposed position may prove unsuitable at survey.

What a boiler move means for your home

Tell us the preferred position

Share the current location, the room or wall you have in mind and what you want to achieve. Photos and a postcode help us prepare for the survey.

We check the routes

We assess the proposed position, services, drainage, flue termination, safe access and the selected boiler’s requirements. We explain alternatives if the first idea will not work.

Approve the written scope

Your quote separates the standard installation from relocation work, showing the agreed position and any extra pipework, flue, electrical or making-good items.

What is involved

  • Safely disconnecting and dealing with the original boiler position.
  • Installing the chosen boiler at the surveyed new position and altering the agreed connections.
  • Fitting the appropriate flue, condensate, gas, heating, water and control connections where required.
  • Testing, commissioning and handing over the completed installation.

What we check at survey

  • Wall or floor suitability, service access and manufacturer clearances.
  • Gas supply and sizing, heating and hot-water pipe routes.
  • Flue length, bends, terminal location and nearby openings or boundaries.
  • Condensate drainage, electrical supply, controls and any building or joinery work.

What affects the quote

  • Distance between old and new positions and access through walls, floors or ceilings.
  • Pipe sizes and routes, flue components and any condensate pump or soakaway.
  • Electrical alterations, cabinetry, boxing, roof or external access.
  • The extent of removal and making good you choose to include.

What your written quote includes

  • The agreed new boiler position and the relocation work priced separately from the standard installation.
  • Specified routes and components, including any particular flue or drainage provision.
  • What happens at the old position, testing and commissioning.
  • Any stated joinery, building work, making good and exclusions.
Important: A preferred position is not an approved design. Final routes and suitability depend on your property, survey findings, applicable requirements and the chosen manufacturer’s instructions. A move is optional work only where it appears in your written quotation; no price or promotional inclusion is assumed here.

Boiler move questions

Can a boiler be moved to any room?

No. The new position needs suitable access, clearances, services, condensate disposal and a compliant flue route. We confirm feasibility at survey.

Is moving it a short distance on the same wall still a move?

The work depends on what has to change, not just the distance. We assess the connections and list any relocation work in your written quote; we do not assume that a particular move is automatically free or chargeable.

Will pipes be hidden and the old wall repaired?

That depends on the route and finish agreed. Boxing, joinery, plastering, tiling and redecoration should be listed explicitly if included.

Can the old flue be reused?

Only if its condition, configuration and the chosen boiler manufacturer’s instructions permit it. A new position often needs a different flue arrangement.

Does moving the boiler change the boiler type?

Not necessarily. Relocation and a conversion are different decisions. We assess the home’s heating and hot-water needs before recommending a boiler type.

Thinking of moving your boiler?

Tell us where it is now, where you would like it to go and your postcode. We’ll arrange the next step and put the agreed scope in writing.
