Changing the boiler or hot-water arrangement can be a good time to review your shower. We can quote a compatible replacement shower or associated plumbing separately, after checking the existing shower, water supplies and household use.
The example shows a suitable mixer supplied by hot water from a combi boiler and cold water from the mains. It is not a universal design for every shower or hot-water system.
Illustrative routes only. An electric shower, stored-water shower or pumped power shower has a different arrangement and requires its own check.
What kind of work are we discussing?
Keep the existing shower
If its design and condition suit the new hot-water system, the quote can state that it remains in place with any required connection checks.
Replace a shower
We can specify a suitable unit and the plumbing connections, rather than assume a like-for-like fitting will perform the same way.
Upgrade nearby plumbing
Pipework, valves, isolation or making good can be separately quoted where the survey identifies a need.
What is involved
Checking the existing shower and intended boiler or hot-water system.
Supplying and fitting the specified replacement or altering the agreed connections.
Testing hot and cold supplies, operation and visible connections.
Including removal and making good only where listed in the written quote.
What we check at survey
Whether the shower is a mixer, electric or pumped unit and how it is supplied.
Mains flow and pressure, simultaneous demand and the proposed hot-water source.
Shower manufacturer requirements and the condition of existing pipework.
Access behind finishes, isolation valves, drainage and any electrical work if relevant.
What affects the quote
Shower model, controls, fittings and compatibility with the chosen system.
Pipe route, wall or tile access, electrical work and finish.
Whether an old pumped arrangement or redundant components need removal.
Any separately requested bathroom alterations beyond the shower connection.
What your written quote includes
The named shower or work to an existing shower and the exact connection scope.
Supply, fitting, testing and any removal or disposal included.
Any plumbing, electrical, tiling or making-good work included or excluded.
Clear conditions if suitability depends on measured water performance.
Boiler installation versus optional shower work: a shower replacement is not automatically included with a new boiler. Its compatibility, supply and fitting are separately stated in the written quotation. We make no promise of better pressure or performance without checking the property and selected equipment.
Shower upgrade questions
Will my current shower work with a new combi boiler?
It depends on the shower type and water supplies. A pumped power shower that relies on stored water is not normally suitable for a mains-fed combi. We check yours before quoting any replacement.
Will a new shower increase my water pressure?
Not by itself. Performance depends on the incoming water supply, the selected hot-water system and the shower specification. We discuss realistic options after survey.
Can you keep an electric shower?
Possibly. It uses its own cold-water and electrical arrangement. We check that arrangement separately and confirm what, if anything, is within our quote.
Will tiles need to come off?
That depends on whether existing connections can be reused and where the new unit will sit. Access and any tile repair should be spelled out in your quote.
Is a shower included in the boiler package?
Only if the written quotation expressly lists the shower, supply and fitting. An optional bolt-on is not part of a standard boiler swap by default.
Ask us to check your shower
Tell us your postcode, shower type and whether you are changing from a cylinder to a combi. A photo of the shower controls and existing boiler arrangement helps us prepare for survey.
