A thermostat decides when the heating is needed. Radiator valves help manage individual rooms. A programmer sets the times. We explain how those parts work together, then recommend a setup for your boiler and household.
Hive smart heating
Set temperatures and heating schedules with a Hive thermostat. App control lets you adjust compatible connected equipment from your phone. Hive publishes both Thermostat and Thermostat Mini models; your MPH quote identifies the supplied kit.
Connected app functions require the appropriate hub, internet connection and Hive account. We check what is required for your installation.

Standard TRVs regulate the flow of hot water through individual radiators as a room warms up. Ask about replacing worn valves or adding appropriate room control during the installation.
A TRV is not a boiler timer. Turning one up cannot make a switched-off heating system start by itself.
Hive smart radiator valves
Hive Radiator Valves offer room temperature settings and schedules through the app. They require compatible valve bodies and a supported Hive Hub. With compatible Hive heating, Heat On Demand can request heat for the room.
These are a separate upgrade from the free Hive heating control offer. We assess the valves, system layout and number of rooms before quoting.

Prefer straightforward controls? Discuss a room thermostat and heating timer, including separate hot-water timing where your system supports it. We help you understand the controls and set a useful starting schedule.
Radiators, valves & balancing
New radiators, TRVs and lockshield adjustments need to work as one system. We assess heat requirements, condition and circulation. Uneven heating may need balancing or repairs, not simply a higher thermostat setting.
Multiple heating zones
If your home has separate heating circuits, tell us at survey. Extra thermostats, receivers or valve work may be needed. The layout and boiler compatibility determine the appropriate controls; the quote identifies any additional equipment.

What does the free Hive offer cover?
MPH offers free Hive smart heating control with every boiler installation. Your written quotation confirms the exact kit and installation arrangement. Ask us about any additional radiator valves, zones or subscription features you want so these can be listed separately.
I already have Hive. What happens then?
Tell us at survey so we can assess the existing equipment and discuss the right arrangement. We will record what is being retained or supplied in your quote.
Will Hive work with every boiler and heating layout?
Controls need to match the appliance and system. We check compatibility before confirming the installation; do not choose a kit solely by the boiler brand. Features such as hot-water control and OpenTherm depend on the specific equipment.
Will smart controls guarantee lower bills?
No fixed saving is promised. Results depend on the property, previous settings, tariff and how the heating is used. The aim is useful control and a schedule that suits your home.
Can I enquire just about TRVs or controls?
Yes. Tell us your postcode, boiler model and what you want to change. We will confirm suitability, availability and the scope and cost of any standalone work.
